Vinyl Flooring LEED Information
•LEED® Credit Reference: WE 3.1 (1 point) Employ strategies that in aggregate use 20% less water than the water use baseline calculated for the building (not including irrigation) after meeting Energy Policy Act of 1992 fixture performance requirements.
•LEED® Credit Reference: WE 3.2 (1 point) Exceed the potable water use reduction by an additional 10% (30% total efficiency increase)
Intent: To maximize water efficiency within the building to reduce burden on municipal water supply and waste water systems.
Siena’s Strategy: LVT floor coverings do not need sealing or polishing due to the factory applied finish PROTECH® and can be cleaned using minimal quantities of water and eco detergent solutions. Dry maintenance is possible. This reduces the amount of chemicals and water needed for maintenance for the lifetime of the floor covering. Siena LVT Contributing Points: 2
•LEED® Credit Reference: MR 1.2 (1 point) Maintain 75% of existing walls, floors and roof •LEED® Credit Reference: MR 1.2.1 (1 point) Maintain 100% of existing walls, floor and roof
•LEED® Credit Reference: MR 1.3 (1 point) Maintain 100% of existing structure & shell and 50% of non-shell (walls, floor coverings, & ceiling systems)
Intent: To extend the lifecycle of existing building stock, conserve resources, retain cultural resources, reduce water and reduce environmental impacts of new buildings as they relate to manufacturing and transport.
Siena’s Strategy: Siena LVT has a proven long life cycle and will qualify should the installed product be reused in the building renovation. Siena LVT Contributing Points: 1-2
•LEED® Credit Reference: MR 4.0 (1 point) Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post consumer recycled content plus 1⁄2 of post industrial content consists of at least 10% of the total value of the materials in the project.
Intent: Increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, therefore reducing from extraction and processing of new virgin materials.
Siena’s Strategy: Siena LVT floor coverings exceed the minimum requirement of post consumer materials used in the manufacturing products. Post consumer materials come from greenhouse covers. Siena LVT Contributing Points: 1
•LEED® Credit Reference: 4.1 (1 point) Adhesives must meet or exceed the VOC limits of South Coast Air Quality Management District Rule #1168 by, and all sealant used as a filler must meet or exceed Bay Area Air Quality Management District Regulations 8, Rule 51.
•LEED® Credit Reference: 4.4 (1 point) Exceed Composite wood and agrifiber products must contain no added urea- formaldehyde resins.
Intent: Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous or potentially irritating to provide installer and occupant health and comfort.
Siena’s Strategy: Siena LVT resilient floor coverings can be installed using low VOC solvent free adhesives. Sealant and coatings are not needed. All Siena floor coverings are formaldehyde free. Siena LVT Contributing Points: 2
